EAC directs plastic waste reduction survey after policy presentation

PA EASTON — Environmental council hears plastic waste presentation, directs local survey. The Environmental Advisory Council heard from Faran Savitz, a Zero Waste Advocate with PennEnvironment, on plastic waste policy solutions, noting that 41 Pennsylvania municipalities have implemented plastic bag bans with measurable reductions in plastic debris. Members including Robert McDonald and Ian Kindle recommended involving the Easton Business Association in the survey process, with Brandon Sullivan directed to develop the survey.
The council also organized a Keystone Trails Association cleanup for March 28 and heard that the Buttler trash collection program now operates 150 units since 2017, with 55 newly expanded units in the West Ward.
