Environmental Council advances dark sky ordinance, approves associate member

PA EASTON — Easton environmental council votes to advance dark sky ordinance. The Environmental Advisory Council voted 6-0 to send a letter to town manager Dave Hopkins regarding the municipal dark sky ordinance draft, with discussion of aligning municipal tree lighting and decorative private lighting with shade tree requirements. The council also voted 6-0 to approve James Lew as an associate member on a motion by Stacy Melvin.
The council heard a capstone presentation from Lafayette College students on proposed Nurture Nature Center improvements, including a nursery design, in-ground greenhouse, trail network, and wetland boardwalk with educational signage. Three new business items were tabled: Community and Warehouse Solar Requirements, Data Center Zoning, and Lighting on Lehigh Dam.
